M300 Slipswitch

         
 

The M300 Slipswitch is a simple inductive shaft speed monitoring device. The self-contained unit has a single set point, which signals when the shaft speed has dropped by 20% of normal running speed. It is used for detecting dangerous slow downs and underspeed on conveyors, bucket elevators, airlocks, mixers, fans, grinders and many other machines.

An inductive sensing device located in the nose of the M300 enclosure will detect a metal target. This target can be an existing bolt head or device attached to a shaft. During installation the M300 is set to the normal machine shaft RPM by calibrating with the magnet provided. The internal microprocessor sets the underspeed output to operate at exactly 20% below normal machine shaft RPM. This allows the M300 output to be used for automatic shutdown of machinery during dangerous underspeed or belt slip conditions.

Whirligig - Shaft Sensor Mount

The Whirligig is a fully guarded target for easy mounting of motion sensors. It is a universal shaft sensor mount suitable for all industry standard cylindrical or DIN style inductive sensors.  The Whirligig is available with 1, 2, 4 or 8 pulse targets, and attaches to the machines shaft by a 1/2 in. tapped hole or magnetically using the Mag-Con™ adapter.

CDL1 Load Device
 

CDL1 & CDL4 Load Devices (2 Wire)

The CDL1 and CDL4 devices add additional loads to PLC inputs.  The CDL1 is for 110 VAC powered inputs, while the CDL4 (not pictured) is designed for 24 VDC (NPN and PNP type) low power inputs. Both devices can be used with the 2 wire M300 Slipswitch.

 
     
     
     
     
     
     
         
  In the product documentation, there is a reference to "load". What is it and how big does it have to be?  
  Load is not a resistor, it is referring to any item that pulls current (PLC input, ice cube relay, etc.) and draws less  
  than 200 mA.  
     
  When checking the 2 wire M300 with a voltage meter, it is always showing full voltage no matter if the shaft is turning  
  or not. Why is the sensor not changing states?  
  The sensor will not function correctly until a load is connected to it, maximum current through the sensor is 200 mA..  
     
  How many wires are needed to run the 5 wire version of the M300?  
  Three are needed to run the sensor, talk to our technical staff for more details.  
     
  How do you program the M300?  
  Be sure to remove any seal tight, this will allow you to see the LED lights and the calibration point on the sensor.  
  To calibrate the sensor, please refer to the operation manual (available under the downloads tab).
